Abstract

The present study was focused on ovarian biology of the golden trevally. The female broodstock with body weigth and total length were 800±200 g and 40±5 cm, respectively. Fish were kept in seacage and daily fed with trashfish at 3-5% body weight. Ovaries were monthly collected for biological parameters. The results indicated that the GSI increased from June to September. Maturation of female fish increased from May to September. Female golden trevally are multiple spawners. There were different stages of germcell development in the ovary at the same time. The biochemical composition changed based on the stages of ovarian maturation. Protein and lipid contents in mature ovary were found higher than that in immature ovary. Absolute fecundity was 121,174 ± 66.842 eggs/female, while relative fecundity was 107,607 ± 49.916 eggs/kg female.
