Abstract
The paper presents the result of analysis and identification of fish samples collected in the downstream of Cai River from July to December 2019, with 6 surveys. The fish species composition in the study area was identified with 155 species, 113 genera and 60 families, belonging to 20 orders, adaptable to all 3 ecological groups: marine, fresh water and brackish water. In particular, Perciformes was the most diverse order with 53 species, 31 genera, 20 families. Cyprinidae was the most diverse family with 11 genera (9.73%). Gerres was the most diverse genus with 6 species (3.87%). The results also recorded 04 species that need to be protected, conserved: Hippocampus kelloggi Jordan & Snyder, 1901; Hippocampus trimaculatus Leach, 1814; Hippocampus histrix Kaup, 1856; Megalops cyprinoides (Broussonet, 1782) and 28 species on the list of fisheries permitted for production and trading in Vietnam. Research results were the first data on fish composition in the downstream of Cai river, Nha Trang city.
