Abstract
Saltwater intrusion and extreme weather caused many impacts on striped catfish nursing – growing in Soc Trang. Study was carried out by the survey method using the interview tool based on semi-structured questionnaire on 97 subjects that were individual nursing-fattening households, fish farms managers of companies and key-informants in Soc Trang. Most of subjects were aware of the effects of saltwater intrusion and extreme weather to this activity and considered it was rather difficult to overcome saltwater intrusion. In addition, the largest proportion in all groups showed that there were abnormalities – weather and climate extremes occurred to some extent and saltwater intrusion was the most concerned problem. In the future, saltwater intrusion would still be the highest concern for striped catfish farming activity in all groups. However, temperature fluctuations over time, weather abnormality,... would be more concerned by key-informants but would not lead to much worry by the group of direct production. Nursing – growing techniques changing for striped catfish would be considered by 3 groups as the most important adaptation measure to cope with climate change and saline intrusion.
