Abstract

     This paper presents the composition, prevalances and intensities of parasites of pond and cage – cultured Russian Sturgeon (Acipencer guldenstaidtii Brandt and Ratzeburg, 1833) and Siberian Sturgeon (Acipencer baerii Brandt, 1869) in Lamdong Province. One hundred and twenty seven specimens of pond – cultured Russian Sturgeon (mean length 659,6 mm (450,0-770,0)) and 108 cage - cultured Russian Sturgeon (mean length 535,1 mm (530,0-747,2)); 96 specimens of pond - cultured Siberian Sturgeon (mean length 652,3 mm (500,0-720,0)) and 111 cage - cultured Siberian Sturgeon (mean length 558,9 mm (524,0-880,0)) were randomly collected from different farms. Results showed that there were, 03 parasitic species from pond - cultured sturgeons, including Trichodina nigra, Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, and Gyrodactylus sp.; and 05 parasitic species from cage - cultured sturgeons, including T. nigra, I. multifiliis, Gyrodactylus sp., Ceratomyxa sp. and Neoergasilus sp. This is the first paper on the composition, prevalances and intensities of parasites on pond and cage – cultured Russian Sturgeon and Siberian Sturgeon in Vietnam.
