Abstract
To evaluate the use of the MAQ22 360-degree horizontal sonar in offshore purse seine fishing in Gia Lai, a survey was conducted on 15 purse seine vessels equipped with the MAQ22. The results showed that vessels using the MAQ22 360-degree horizontal sonar achieved approximately 40.5% higher fishing efficiency compared to vessels without the sonar, and notably, the vessels never incurred losses since installation. However, fishermen still face limitations in operating the equipment, failing to fully utilize its features, thus not achieving the desired results. Therefore, understanding the current state of use, evaluating its effectiveness, and proposing solutions to improve the efficiency of the MAQ22 360-degree sonar is a pressing and timely issue.
