Abstract

     Aquaculture is one of the most the fastest-growing food-producing sectors worldwide, making it desirable to assess the sustainability. Until now, there have been many publications of suggesting indicators to assess the sustainability of this activity. Although sustainable development and sustainability are complex issues that are difficult to define and apply to aquaculture, the development and application of the system of indicators to guide operation is very necessary. This paper generalises methodology of setting indicators and some issues of the ones about ecological – environmental dimension for assessing sustainable development of coastal aquaculture.
