Abstract

Of the marine protected area of Nha Trang Bay, Hon Mun coral reef is of international importance and has the highest biodiversity of Vietnam, with 1,500 species out of 2,000 coral species and marine creatures (Nguyen Van Hoàng, 2012) in the world. Currently, tourism activities such as scuba diving and other sightseeing diving ones that play important role to generate revenue for conservation activities have impacts on coral reefs. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of this work, the study was conducted to survey the scuba diving tourists’ assessments about Hon Mun coral reef ecosystem by random method. Tourists’ assessments show that Hon Mun coral reef is not in the best condition. If properly conserved, Hon Mun is still an attractive diving destination for domestic and foreign tourists with 98% wishing to return.
