Abstract
Experimental culture of Pacific oysters in the estuary of Long Toan commune, Duyen Hai town, Tra Vinh province was carried out by hanging ropes on the raft (string culture). The results of the culture were as follows: After 11 months of culture, Pacific oysters achieved: shell height ranging from 66.25 to 67.08 mm (66.76 ± 0.34) mm, shell width ranging from 47.90 to 48.70 mm (48.32 ± 0.28) mm; oyster weight ranging from 66 to 73 g/ individual (68.89 ± 1.23) g/individual and reaching 14 - 15 individual/kg; meat ratio ranging from 17.85 to 27.33% (21.93 ± 2.49) %. The specific growth rate in length (SGRL) of Pacific oysters was SGRL = 0.94 (%/day). The specific growth rate in weight (SGRW) of Pacific oysters was SGRW = 1.28 (%/day). The results show that Pacific oysters have good potential for development in the Tra Vinh estuary.
