Abstract
Most of the structural components of Vietnamese fishing boats are constructed by multi-layerd compostie materials. The two main componetns of those materials are unsaturated polyester resin and E glass fiber. Currenlty, hull structure scantling specifications are calculated according to the requirements of the regulation. So, they are tendency to have excess durability and negatively affecting product features and cost. To solve the problem of reasonable hull structure design, it is necessary to calculation the strength of the composite ship hull structure. This report presents the results of calculating the stress and strain of the bottom plate of a composite fishing boat by analytical method. The results show that the stress occurring on each layer is smaller than the standard values (determined by experiment), so the bottom hull panels ensures the strength.
